Another article featured Kim Hyun Joong, Bae Yong Jun and other Korean stars who donated to Japan Earthquake victims

Korean stars' donations for Japan reach P127-M

MANILA, Philippines – The outpouring of donations from Korean stars for the victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami has reached 3.3 billion won so far, or about P127 million.

Still, more Korean celebrities are donating to the worthy cause.  Hallyu star Lee Byung Hun, who starred in the Hollywood film “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” donated 700 million won (P26.92 million) for the Japan earthquake relief operations. K-pop trio JYJ has donated 600 million won (about P23 million) to World Vision aid organization for the victims in the cities of Fukushima and Sendai, two of the hardest hit areas in Japan.

YG Entertainment, which manages 2NE1 and Big Bang, also gave 500 million won (P19.23 million) for the Japan relief efforts.

Hallyu actress Choi Ji Woo, who rose to fame through the drama series “Winter Sonata,” donated 200 million won (P7.7 million). Choi is very popular in Japan.

Fans of Korean stars are also helping the earthquake victims.

Fans of pop star Rain collected 15 million won (about P577,000) in donations for the victims of the Japan earthquake. The pop star’s fan club, the Cloud, raised the amount from supporters in such countries as the United States, China, Germany, Japan and the Philippines. The money will be given to the Japan Emergency Relief project of Good Neighbors, a non-government organization based in South Korea.

On his website, Rain expressed his condolences to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami.

Earlier, actor Bae Yong Joon donated 1 billion won (P38.71 million) while K-pop star Kim Hyun Joong, leader of boy band SS501, gave 100 million won (P3.87 million). Actor Song Seung Hun, meanwhile, also contributed 200 million won (P7.74 million) to Japan.
